The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth Igweh, has instructed a rigorous crackdown on vehicles without proper number plates or those featuring only a single number plate while operating on FCT roads. This directive emerged during a meeting held on Saturday, involving the FCT Police Command's Management Team, leaders of tactical units, and various department heads. Igweh emphasized the need for intelligence-led policing, increased visibility through regular stop-and-search operations, and the fostering of effective community partnerships. The Commissioner urged the tactical unit leaders to identify potential risk areas and locations used by kidnappers, encouraging a proactive approach to combat criminal activities. Moreover, Igweh mandated a comprehensive clampdown on vehicles that do not comply with the proper number plate regulations while traversing FCT roads. In his commitment to curbing criminality, he called on residents to collaborate with the police, reporting any suspicious activities through designated emergency contact numbers.
