Tragedy Strikes Kano School as Security Guard Takes His Own Life Amid Marital Struggles
In a distressing turn of events, a 37-year-old security guard at Prestige International College in Kano, Nurudeen Shehu, has reportedly committed suicide. Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, revealing that the unfortunate incident unfolded inside one of the school's classrooms on Sunday.
The distressing discovery was made when Abdullahi Abdulsalam reported finding Shehu hanging motionless in a classroom around 10:30 am on January 28. Swift response from the police, led by officers from the Gwale Division, included entering the classroom, cutting the rope, and promptly transporting the lifeless body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital. The attending doctor confirmed Shehu's death, and his remains were released to the deceased's family for burial.
The motive behind this tragic act appears to be linked to the news of Shehu's ex-wife's remarriage, compounding the personal struggles he may have been facing. Commissioner Gumel assured the public that a thorough police investigation would be conducted to unravel the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking incident.
This incident follows another distressing event where a 24-year-old Mass Communication student at Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa State, Jemima Shetima-Balami, allegedly took her own life on Monday following the end of her relationship with her boyfriend.
