Former Kogi State Governor, Yayaha Bello, Denies Involvement in APC Chairmanship Campaign
In a notable development, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yayaha Bello, has officially distanced himself from any association with campaign posters linking him to the position of Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The media office of the former governor issued a statement on Tuesday, attributing such a campaign to the "handiwork of some opposition leaders and some 5th columnists within the party."
The media office highlighted that these campaign efforts were designed to discredit the former governor and labeled the insinuations as baseless. The circulation of campaign posters insinuating Alhaji Yahaya Bello's candidacy for the National Chairmanship of the APC was dismissed as groundless, given that the party is not presently engaged in congresses or a convention.
The statement vehemently asserted that Alhaji Yahaya Bello had not authorized anyone to circulate posters on his behalf. It underscored his allegiance to the National Chairman of the Party, His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and urged the public to dismiss the misleading posters as an attempt to create a false narrative.
Adding to this, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, echoed a similar sentiment during a press conference held on Tuesday at the party's national secretariat. Morka emphasized that there is currently no vacancy in the office of the APC National Chairman, reinforcing the leadership of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje. He cautioned against the circulation of papers suggesting otherwise and urged a collective focus on addressing the prevailing challenges facing the country.
